15 Houseplants That are Almost Impossible to Kill

Wanting to fill your apartment with green but you’re missing a green thumb? These houseplants are nearly impossible to kill and are great starter plants for new plant mom’s & dad’s!


  1. Chinese Evergreen - This plant is super forgiving if you happen to give it a little too much H2O and comes in tons of different varieties.

  2. Asparagus Fern - This plant adapts to both bright spots and dark corners, just keep the soil moist and it will thrive!

  3. Fiddle Leaf Fig - This plant will thrive in bright spots but not direct sunlight. Water more in the Summer and less in the Winter.

  4. Guiana Chestnut - This plant, also known as the money tree, will do great in indirect sunlight and lots of watering!

  5. Chinese Money Plant - This one prefers a shady spot and watering once a week! Easy as that.

  6. Yucca - The recipe for a happy Yucca is sun, sun, sun, and more sun. Water sparingly and plant in a deep planter.

  7. African Violets - Keep this bloomer in indirect sunlight and moist soil to keep it happy!

  8. Peperomia - These do best in humid conditions and can also thrive under fluorescent lighting!

  9. Air Plant - These grow without dirt whatsoever! Just dunk them in water for 2-3 hours every 10 days or so.

  10. Spider Plant - Spider plants are happy in well-lit spots and weekly watering. These fast growing shoots actually produce “babies” so you can repot and have many!

  11. Peace Lilly - If you tend to overwater, these will work great for you. They can basically grow in a fish tank.

  12. Aloe - Aloe does best in indirect sunlight and a good soak every week or two.

  13. Calathea - Keep this one in moist (not drenched) and avoid bright light

  14. Philodendron - This plant prefers low light and likes to stay on the dry side, so only water every week or two.

  15. Begonia - These blooms only like an occasional drink and even less water in the winter.
